Lewis's public statements often reflect her commitment to individual freedoms and national sovereignty. She has expressed concerns about international organizations encroaching on Canadian liberties, stating, "We have a lot of international organizations encroaching on our freedoms and on our liberties and somebody with international experience that can dissect these treaties and understand how these treaties affect our sovereignty is very, very important." Additionally, she has emphasized the importance of unity and shared values, saying, "To focus on what makes us different, whether that's race, gender or religion, rather than what we have in common, has never served to bring people together."
