Kevin Systrom (born December 30, 1983, in Holliston, Massachusetts) is an American entrepreneur and computer programmer best known as the co-founder of Instagram, the widely popular photo-sharing application. Systrom graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Management Science and Engineering, where he developed an interest in photography and technology. Before Instagram, he worked at Google, contributing to services like Gmail and Google Calendar, and later at Nextstop, a travel recommendation startup. In 2010, Systrom and Mike Krieger launched Instagram, which quickly gained popularity for its user-friendly interface and innovative photo filters. The app was acquired by Facebook in 2012 for approximately $1 billion, and Systrom continued to lead Instagram as CEO until his departure in 2018.
