Crescent Dragonwagon (born Ellen Zolotow on November 25, 1952, in New York City) is a multifaceted American writer, chef, and educator. She is the author of over fifty books spanning various genres, including children's literature, cookbooks, fiction, poetry, and culinary memoirs. Raised in a literary family—her mother was renowned children's book author Charlotte Zolotow—Dragonwagon began her writing career at the age of sixteen with the publication of Rainy Day Together. She later co-founded Dairy Hollow House, a country inn and restaurant in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where she served as executive chef. Dragonwagon's children's book Half a Moon and One Whole Star, illustrated by Jerry Pinkney, received the Coretta Scott King Award and was a Reading Rainbow selection.
