Zawe Ashton is a British actress, playwright, and director, celebrated for her dynamic roles across television, film, and theater. Born Zawedde Emma Ashton on July 25, 1984, in Hackney, London, she hails from a Ugandan heritage, with her maternal grandfather, Paulo Muwanga, having served as Uganda's Prime Minister. Ashton trained at the Anna Scher Theatre School and later graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University. She gained prominence with her portrayal of Vod in the Channel 4 series Fresh Meat and has since showcased her versatility in productions like Velvet Buzzsaw, Dreams of a Life, and The Marvels .
