Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy is a prominent Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, born on December 21, 1972, in Pulivendula, Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of the late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, a beloved former Chief Minister of the state. Jaganmohan Reddy began his political career by following in his father's footsteps and quickly rose to prominence through his grassroots outreach and development-oriented vision.
After a brief stint with the Indian National Congress, Jaganmohan Reddy founded his own party, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), in 2011, following his father's tragic death in a helicopter crash. He led a massive padayatra (foot march) across the state, connecting with millions and gaining widespread support. In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, he led his party to a sweeping victory, becoming Chief Minister and initiating several welfare programs, particularly focused on education, healthcare, and farmer support.
As a public figure, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy is known for his firm convictions and development-driven approach. One of his most quoted lines is: “My strength is the people of Andhra Pradesh, and I will serve them with sincerity and transparency.” Another reflects his dedication to social welfare: “Our government is committed to bringing governance to the doorstep of the poor and marginalized.” These quotes underline his vision of inclusive governance and commitment to continuing his father’s legacy.
