Tony Jaa (born Tatchakorn Yeerum in 1976 in Surin, Thailand) is a celebrated Thai martial artist, actor, director, and stuntman renowned for revitalizing traditional Muay Thai martial arts in cinema. Growing up in rural Thailand, Jaa trained in Muay Thai and taekwondo from a young age before studying drama and martial arts at the Mahasarakham University. He gained international fame with his breakout role in Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior (2003), which showcased his incredible agility, precision, and daring stunt work without the use of CGI or wirework.

Throughout his career, Tony Jaa has starred in numerous action films, including Tom-Yum-Goong (2005), Fast & Furious 7 (2015), and Mortal Kombat (2021), blending authentic martial arts with cinematic storytelling. Beyond acting, he has directed and choreographed fight scenes, contributing to the global popularity of martial arts cinema.
