Simon Baker

Simon Baker (born July 30, 1969, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia) is an acclaimed Australian actor and director. He first gained recognition in 1992, receiving Australia's prestigious Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent. Baker's breakthrough in Hollywood came with his role in the Academy Award-winning film L.A. Confidential (1997). He is best known for his portrayal of Patrick Jane in the CBS television series The Mentalist (2008–2015), earning multiple award nominations, including a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2009. Raised in a family with a mechanic father and an English teacher mother, Baker's early life was marked by frequent relocations, including a move to New Guinea when he was nine months old.
