Sarah Chalke is a Canadian-American actress and voice artist celebrated for her versatile roles in television and animation. Born Sarah Louise Christine Chalke on August 27, 1976, in Ottawa, Ontario, she was raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Chalke began her acting career at the age of eight, participating in musical theatre productions. By 12, she was a reporter on the Canadian children's show KidZone. She gained prominence in the early 1990s, first portraying Becky Conner on the ABC sitcom Roseanne and later as Dr. Elliot Reid on the medical comedy-drama Scrubs (2001–2010). Chalke's acting portfolio also includes roles in How I Met Your Mother, Rick and Morty, and Firefly Lane .
Beyond her acting career, Chalke is known for her advocacy work, particularly in health-related causes. She has been actively involved in breast cancer awareness, inspired by personal experiences with the disease in her family. Chalke starred in the 2006 Lifetime television film Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, based on the memoir by Geralyn Lucas, which chronicles a woman's journey through breast cancer at a young age . She also supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation and has participated in campaigns promoting cancer prevention and early detection .

She once stated, “I love acting, and it was really important to me to give it a real shot.” Additionally, she emphasized the importance of maintaining privacy, saying, “Your home should be your home.
