Ryuichi Sakamoto

Ryuichi Sakamoto (born January 17, 1952, in Tokyo, Japan) was a pioneering composer, musician, and producer, known for his influential work in both classical music and electronic music. As a founding member of the groundbreaking band Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), Sakamoto helped shape the development of synthpop and electronic music in the late 1970s and 1980s. His solo career included a diverse range of works, from film scores such as his Academy Award-winning composition for The Last Emperor (1987) to experimental music blending classical, ambient, and world music elements.
