Roland Orzabal is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and author, best known as a co-founder of the iconic band Tears for Fears. Born in Portsmouth, England in 1961, he grew up in Bath, where he met Curt Smith, with whom he would form one of the most influential pop-rock duos of the 1980s. As the band’s primary songwriter and creative force, Orzabal helped craft timeless hits like Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Shout, and Mad World.

In addition to his music career, Orzabal has explored writing in other forms, including his 2014 novel "Sex, Drugs & Opera", a satirical story reflecting his wit and sharp observations on fame, relationships, and personal struggles. His songwriting often blends introspection with social commentary, giving his work a lasting emotional and cultural resonance.
