Prateik Babbar, born November 28, 1986, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi and Tamil cinema. He is the son of the late actress Smita Patil and actor-politician Raj Babbar. Tragically, Smita Patil passed away shortly after his birth, leading Prateik to be raised by his maternal grandparents. This early loss profoundly influenced his life and career. Prateik made his acting debut in the 2008 film Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, which earned him critical acclaim and several award nominations, including a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He has since appeared in various films such as Dhobi Ghaat (2011), Baaghi 2 (2018), Chhichhore (2019), and Darbar (2020) .

Throughout his career, Prateik has been open about his personal struggles, including battles with substance abuse.
