Pauly Shore (born 1968) is an American actor, comedian, and producer, best known for his roles in 1990s teen comedies. Born in Hollywood, California, Shore grew up in a family deeply embedded in the entertainment industry; his mother, Mitzi Shore, founded the iconic The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Shore made his mark as a stand-up comedian before transitioning to acting, starring in popular films like Encino Man (1992), Son in Law (1993), and Bio-Dome (1996). His distinctive persona, marked by his laid-back attitude and the catchphrase "Hey, buddy!," earned him a loyal fanbase during the height of his career.

Shore’s career is also characterized by his unique sense of humor, which blends slacker culture with a surfer attitude. Known for playing fun-loving, carefree characters, he became a pop culture icon during the 1990s, often portraying characters that were both ridiculous and lovable. Despite a dip in mainstream recognition following his peak, Shore continued to maintain a presence in the comedy world, including appearances in reality TV and self-produced projects, like his documentary Pauly Shore Stands Alone (2014), which explores his career and personal life.

One of Shore’s memorable quotes is, "I never really had a plan. I was just trying to be myself." This reflects his approach to both his career and life—embracing his individuality rather than conforming to conventional expectations. Another iconic quote from him is, "The key to being a good comedian is just not to take yourself too seriously." This speaks to his laid-back style and belief in keeping humor light and fun, often at his own expense.
