Pam Ferris

Pam Ferris is a distinguished Welsh actress born on May 11, 1948, in Hanover, Germany, to a Welsh mother and an English father serving in the Royal Air Force. Raised in Aberkenfig, Wales, she began her acting career in New Zealand before returning to the UK to pursue stage and screen roles. Ferris has appeared in over 70 film and television productions, including notable roles as Miss Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda (1996), Aunt Marge in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), and Sister Evangelina in Call the Midwife (2012–2016). She has also featured in films such as Children of Men (2006) and Tolkien (2019) .

In addition to her film and television work, Ferris has an extensive theatre background, performing at prestigious venues like the Royal Court Theatre, the National Theatre, and the Old Vic Theatre. Her portrayal of Phoebe Rice in The Entertainer at the Old Vic earned her a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2007 .

Ferris has been married to actor Roger Frost since 1986. They reside in Elham, Kent, England. Despite her extensive career, Ferris has expressed a preference for a private life, stating, "I'm a professional actor, not a celebrity" .
