Naima Adedapo

Naima Adedapo is an American singer, dancer, and author who gained national recognition as a contestant on the tenth season of American Idol. Born Naima Adedapo on October 5, 1984, in Maywood, Illinois, she was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she developed a passion for music and performance. Adedapo is the daughter of jazz singer Rocio Jurado and choreographer Olutosin Adedapo, both of whom influenced her artistic journey. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in Dance and minoring in Music, and was an active member of the Ko-Thi Dance Company, a Milwaukee-based African dance troupe .

During her time on American Idol, Adedapo showcased her unique blend of reggae, R&B, and world music influences, making her performances stand out. Despite being eliminated in the top 11, she continued to pursue her music career, releasing a seven-song EP titled Beautifully Made in 2015, which she co-wrote and co-produced. She also signed with Peak Records in 2012 and performed on the American Idols LIVE! tour, further solidifying her presence in the music industry .
