Michael T. McCaul is an American politician and attorney serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 10th congressional district since 2005. Born on January 14, 1962, in Dallas, Texas, McCaul earned a Bachelor of Science in History from Trinity University and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law. Before entering politics, he worked as a federal prosecutor and served as the Chief of Counterterrorism and National Security for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Texas. He also held the position of Deputy Attorney General for Texas from 1999 to 2002 .

Throughout his congressional tenure, McCaul has been a prominent figure in national security and foreign policy. He chaired the House Committee on Homeland Security from the 113th to the 115th Congress and became the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the 118th Congress in 2023 .
