Mercedes Schlapp

Mercedes Schlapp is an American communications specialist and political commentator. Born on December 27, 1972, in Miami, Florida, she is of Cuban-American descent. Schlapp holds a Bachelor of Arts from Florida International University and a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University. She began her political career working on the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns for George W. Bush and later served as Director of Specialty Media in his administration. In 2017, she was appointed White House Director of Strategic Communications during the Trump administration, a role she held until 2019.

Following her tenure at the White House, Schlapp co-founded Cove Strategies, a government and public affairs firm, with her husband, Matt Schlapp, who is the chairman of the American Conservative Union. She has also contributed to various media outlets, including Fox News, and has been a columnist for publications such as U.S. News & World Report and The Washington Times. Schlapp is known for her advocacy of conservative values and has been an active voice in political discourse.

Regarding her personal life, Schlapp is married to Matt Schlapp, and together they have five daughters.
