Lights
Lights (born Valerie Anne Poxleitner‑Bokan, April 11, 1987) is a Canadian musician, singer‑songwriter, graphic novelist, and artist. Raised by missionary parents in Timmins, Ontario, she traveled extensively in her youth. By her early teens, she was already writing songs—her first inspired by a randomly chosen Psalm—with musical instruments serving as her lifelong refuge and form of personal expression +10+10+10.
Beyond her music—hit albums like The Listening (2009), Siberia, Little Machines, and Pep—Lights created and illustrated the acclaimed graphic novel series Skin & Earth, which she wrote to align with her 2017 concept album of the same name. She scripted, drew, lettered, and colored the entire book, making each song correspond to a chapter in the story, merging sound, narrative, and visuals into one cohesive world +11+11+11.
