Kumail Nanjiani

Kumail Nanjiani is a Pakistani-American comedian, actor, and writer, celebrated for his role as Dinesh in the HBO series Silicon Valley (2014–2019). Born on May 2, 1978, in Karachi, Pakistan, Nanjiani moved to the U.S. at 18 to attend Grinnell College in Iowa, where he studied computer science and philosophy. After college, he began performing stand-up comedy in Chicago, later relocating to Los Angeles to further his career. Nanjiani gained widespread recognition for co-writing and starring in the semi-autobiographical film The Big Sick (2017), which earned him and his wife, Emily V. Gordon, an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
