K'naan is a Somali-Canadian poet, rapper, singer, and author, renowned for blending personal storytelling with political consciousness in his art. Born as Keinan Abdi Warsame in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1978, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 13 to escape the civil war.
