Kevin Jorgeson is a renowned American rock climber celebrated for his groundbreaking achievements in free climbing. Born on October 7, 1984, in Santa Rosa, California, Jorgeson's passion for climbing began at a young age, inspired by his father, who worked for the Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation Department and introduced him to the sport. He started indoor climbing at the age of 11 and began competing in international climbing contests at 16 .
Jorgeson gained international fame in 2015 when, alongside fellow climber Tommy Caldwell, he completed the first-ever free ascent of the Dawn Wall on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. This monumental feat involved a 3,000-foot vertical granite face, with multiple pitches rated 5.14d, making it one of the most challenging big-wall climbs in the world .
