Jon Porter is an American politician and former U.S. Representative who served Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2003 to 2009. Born on May 16, 1955, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Porter began his political career in Boulder City, Nevada, serving on the city council and as mayor before being elected to the Nevada State Senate in 1994. As a member of the Republican Party, he was the first representative elected from Nevada's newly established 3rd district. During his tenure in Congress, Porter focused on issues such as education, healthcare, and veterans' affairs, serving on the Ways and Means and Budget Committees .

After leaving Congress, Porter transitioned to a career in lobbying and consulting, founding the Porter Group, a firm based in Washington, D.C.
