John Boozman

John Boozman is an American politician and optometrist serving as the senior U.S. Senator from Arkansas since 2011. Born on December 10, 1950, in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Boozman graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in 1977 and co-founded the Boozman-Hof Regional Eye Clinic in Rogers, Arkansas. Before entering national politics, he served on the Rogers Public School Board and volunteered as an optometrist for low-income families .

Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2001, Boozman represented the 3rd district of Arkansas until 2011. He then won a Senate seat, defeating Democratic incumbent Blanche Lincoln. In the Senate, Boozman has been a strong advocate for agriculture, veterans' affairs, and fiscal conservatism.
