Jessica Brown Findlay is an English actress celebrated for her role as Lady Sybil Crawley in the acclaimed period drama Downton Abbey. Born on September 14, 1989, in Cookham, Berkshire, she began her artistic journey with ballet, training with the National Youth Ballet and the Royal Ballet's Associates. However, after a series of ankle surgeries at age 19, she shifted her focus to acting, studying fine art at Central Saint Martins. Her breakout role in Albatross (2011) showcased her versatility, leading to subsequent performances in Winter's Tale (2014), Victor Frankenstein (2015), and the television series Harlots (2017–2019).

Beyond her acting career, Brown Findlay has been open about her personal challenges, including a battle with anorexia from her teenage years into her mid-20s. She has also spoken candidly about the end of her ballet aspirations due to her injuries, describing the experience as both devastating and ultimately a gift that redirected her path toward acting. In 2020, she married actor Ziggy Heath, and in November 2022, the couple welcomed twin sons. The Guardian
