Jacob Zachar is an American actor best known for his role as Russell "Rusty" Cartwright on the ABC Family series “Greek” (2007–2011). Born on May 16, 1986, in Chicago, Illinois, Zachar began his acting career in the Chicagoland theater scene before transitioning to film and television. His early work includes roles in films like Little Big Top (2006) and Drunkboat (2010), where he starred alongside John Malkovich and John Goodman .
In addition to his acting career, Zachar has a background in music. While living in Chicago, he was part of a metal band called Megaband and later performed in a punk/ska group named Not Too Good. Currently, he plays in a blues and funk band part-time, showcasing his versatility and passion for music alongside his acting endeavors .
Zachar's reflections on his career and experiences offer insight into his perspective on acting and life. He has expressed, “I think the reason I got into it is because you get to be someone else. There are, like, two percent of people in the actors' union who actually make money off of it, so I feel very blessed to be here” . Additionally, he has noted, “In Chicago, I'd audition 3-4 times a week, but when I got out to L.A., there were, like, 4-5 a day, and my skin got really thick” , highlighting the challenges and growth he experienced in the entertainment industry.
