Giovanni Falcone

Giovanni Falcone (1939–1992) was an Italian magistrate and anti-mafia activist best known for his work in combating the powerful Sicilian Mafia. Born in Palermo, Sicily, Falcone dedicated his life to eradicating organized crime, and he is most famous for his involvement in the Maxi Trial of the 1980s, which resulted in the conviction of hundreds of mafia members. As a judge and prosecutor, Falcone employed innovative techniques, such as wiretapping and the use of pentiti (turncoat witnesses), to dismantle the Mafia's structure and operations.
