Anni-Frid Lyngstad, widely known as Frida, is a Swedish singer who achieved international fame as a member of the iconic pop group ABBA. Born on November 15, 1945, in Narvik, Norway, she moved to Sweden with her grandmother at the age of two after her mother’s early death. Frida began her music career at 13, performing in dance bands and jazz ensembles. Her breakthrough came in 1969 when she won Sweden’s Melodifestivalen with the song “En ledig dag,” leading to a recording contract and a solo album. In 1972, she joined ABBA, formed by fellow musicians Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Agnetha Fältskog, and the group became one of the best-selling music acts in history .

Following ABBA’s disbandment in 1982, Frida pursued a solo career, releasing albums like Something’s Going On (1982) and Shine (1984). The lead single from Something’s Going On, “I Know There’s Something Going On,” produced by Phil Collins, became a major hit, reaching No. 1 in Belgium and Switzerland and peaking at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States . In 1992, she married Heinrich Ruzzo, Prince Reuss of Plauen, and became known as Princess Reuss of Plauen until his passing in 1999. Frida has since focused on environmental causes and has been involved in various philanthropic activities.
