Flying Lotus, born Steven Ellison on October 7, 1983, in Los Angeles, California, is an innovative producer, composer, and DJ known for his genre-blending music that fuses elements of electronic, hip hop, jazz, and experimental sounds. As the grand-nephew of the legendary jazz saxophonist John Coltrane, Ellison was immersed in music from a young age, drawing on his family’s rich musical heritage to influence his own creations. Flying Lotus gained widespread recognition with his debut album "1983" (2006), and later broke through with his critically acclaimed "Cosmogramma" (2010), which helped solidify his place as one of the most innovative producers of his generation.
