Elizabeth Esty is an American attorney and former politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 5th congressional district from 2013 to 2019. Born on August 25, 1959, in Oak Park, Illinois, she earned her A.B. from Harvard University in 1981 and her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1985. Before her congressional tenure, Esty served in the Connecticut House of Representatives and as a member of the Cheshire Town Council.

During her time in Congress, Esty was recognized for her bipartisan efforts, particularly in advancing science education opportunities for women and supporting policies to help female scientists bring their discoveries to market. She also worked on energy production issues and was a vocal advocate for gun control.
