Eddie Huang

Eddie Huang is a multifaceted American author, chef, and cultural commentator, renowned for his candid exploration of identity and the immigrant experience. Born Edwyn Charles Huang on March 1, 1982, in Fairfax, Virginia, he is the son of Taiwanese immigrants. Huang pursued higher education at the University of Pittsburgh, Rollins College, and earned a J.D. from Yeshiva University's Cardozo School of Law. After a brief tenure as a corporate attorney, he transitioned into the culinary world, opening BaoHaus, a Taiwanese gua bao restaurant in Manhattan's East Village, in 2009 .

Huang's literary debut, Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir (2013), delves into his experiences growing up as an Asian-American in the U.S., navigating cultural assimilation, and challenging stereotypes. The memoir served as the foundation for the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat, where Huang narrated the first season.
