Dominic Grieve
Dominic Grieve is a British politician and former Member of Parliament (MP), known for his strong stance on issues related to constitutional law and civil liberties. Born on May 24, 1956, in London, England, Grieve was educated at Harvard University and later studied law at University College London. A member of the Conservative Party, he served as the Attorney General for England and Wales from 2010 to 2014 under Prime Minister David Cameron. Grieve is particularly respected for his legal expertise and for his principled positions on rule of law and democratic integrity.
Throughout his political career, Grieve was an outspoken advocate for the Brexit process, notably positioning himself as a pro-European Union voice within the Conservative Party. His consistent support for human rights and his strong opposition to the undermining of constitutional protections led him to be one of the leading figures in challenging the government’s approach to Brexit. In 2019, Grieve was one of several Conservative MPs who voted to block a no-deal Brexit, which eventually led to his removal from the party's parliamentary group.
One of Grieve’s notable quotes is: “The rule of law must apply to all of us, no matter our position or power.” This reflects his commitment to the fairness and equality at the heart of the British legal system, reinforcing his belief in justice and the protection of democratic values. Through his legal work and political career, Dominic Grieve continues to advocate for upholding the core principles of democracy, transparency, and legal integrity.
