Bryan Waller Procter, better known by his pen name Barry Cornwall, was an English poet and biographer born on November 21, 1787, in Leeds, Yorkshire. Educated at Harrow School, he later studied law and became a solicitor. In 1820, he began writing poetry under the pseudonym Barry Cornwall, contributing to the Literary Gazette and associating with literary figures such as Charles Lamb, Leigh Hunt, and William Hazlitt.
