Boomer Esiason, born Norman Julius Esiason on April 17, 1961, in East Islip, New York, is a former NFL quarterback and current sports analyst. He played for 14 seasons, primarily with the Cincinnati Bengals, and also had stints with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals. Esiason was named NFL Most Valuable Player in 1988, leading the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance that year. He was also a four-time Pro Bowl selection and received the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 1995 for his charitable work .
After retiring from football in 1997, Esiason transitioned into broadcasting, serving as an analyst for CBS Sports and hosting the morning show Boomer and Gio on WFAN in New York. He departed from CBS's NFL Today in 2024 to focus on his radio career and personal life, stating the decision was made to achieve a better work-life balance NYPost.
Beyond his sports career, Esiason is a prominent advocate for cystic fibrosis (CF) research. His son, Gunnar, was diagnosed with CF at age two, leading Esiason and his wife, Cheryl, to establish the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
