Bob Mortimer
Bob Mortimer is an English comedian, writer, and television presenter, best known for his work as one-half of the comedic duo Vic and Bob. Born on May 23, 1959, in Middlesbrough, England, Mortimer began his career in the early 1980s, first gaining attention with his partnership with Vic Reeves. Together, they created the surreal and absurd sketch comedy show "Vic Reeves Big Night Out" (1990), which led to the hugely successful "The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer" (1993) and "Shooting Stars" (1995–2011). Mortimer’s unique style, marked by its surreal humor and offbeat charm, made him one of the most beloved figures in British comedy.
In addition to his television work, Bob Mortimer has appeared in numerous other TV shows, including "Would I Lie to You?", "Taskmaster", and "Bob Mortimer: Fishing" (2018), where he explores the world of fishing through a comedic lens. Beyond comedy, Mortimer has written books, including "And Away...", a memoir in which he reflects on his life, career, and personal experiences. His wit and humor, as well as his vulnerability in discussing personal struggles, have earned him a loyal following and critical acclaim.
One of Bob Mortimer’s memorable quotes is: "I like to think I’m an idiot in a clever person’s body." This reflects his self-deprecating humor and how he often embraces his quirky, offbeat persona in his comedy. Another notable quote from him is: "I don't like making people feel bad; I just like making them laugh." This highlights Mortimer’s belief in the power of humor to bring people together, while maintaining a lighthearted and positive approach to life.
