Bérénice Bejo is a French-Argentine actress celebrated for her compelling performances in both French and international cinema. Born Bérénice Bejo on July 7, 1976, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she moved to France with her family at the age of three to escape Argentina's military dictatorship. Daughter of filmmaker Miguel Bejo, she was immersed in the arts from a young age. Bejo began her acting career in the 1990s, gaining recognition for her role as Christiana in A Knight’s Tale (2001). Her breakout performance came in 2011 when she portrayed Peppy Miller in the silent film The Artist, directed by her husband Michel Hazanavicius. This role earned her the César Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress .
