Benjamin Netanyahu is an Israeli politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Israel for multiple terms, becoming the longest-serving prime minister in the country’s history. Born in Tel Aviv in 1949, Netanyahu grew up in a politically active family. His father, Benzion Netanyahu, was a prominent historian, and his brother, Yonatan Netanyahu, was a hero in the 1976 Entebbe rescue operation. Netanyahu served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a Sayeret Matkal commando before pursuing higher education at MIT and Harvard University, where he studied architecture and business.

Netanyahu’s political career began in the Likud Party, where he rose quickly through the ranks. He was first elected as prime minister in 1996, serving until 1999, and then returned to office in 2009, holding the position until 2021. Throughout his career, Benjamin Netanyahu has been a staunch advocate for Israeli security and nationalism, particularly in regard to the country’s relationship with its neighbors and the Palestinian conflict. His leadership has been marked by his strong stance on Iran’s nuclear program and his controversial policies on settlements in the West Bank.

One of Netanyahu’s famous quotes, "If the Arabs put down their arms, there will be peace. If Israel puts down its arms, there will be no Israel," reflects his unwavering belief in Israel's right to self-defense. Benjamin Netanyahu has been a polarizing figure both domestically and internationally, but his influence on Israeli politics and the Middle East remains significant.
