She is the younger sister of actress Shruti Haasan. Akshara completed her schooling at institutions including Abacus Montessori School in Chennai and Indus International School in Bangalore. Before entering acting, she worked as an assistant director on films such as Society (2010) and her father’s project Sabaash Naidu.
