Adrian Dunbar is a celebrated Irish performer, born on 1 August 1958 in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Over four decades, he has built a multifaceted career as an actor, director, screenwriter, and singer, studying at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London .

He first garnered acclaim co‑writing and starring in the 1991 film Hear My Song, earning a BAFTA nomination for Best Original Screenplay, and later won global recognition as Superintendent Ted Hastings in the BBC’s hit drama Line of Duty (2012–2021). His versatile work spans stage productions—from Dublin’s Abbey Theatre to the Royal Shakespeare Company—as well as notable TV roles in Ashes to Ashes, The Hollow Crown, and the ITV detective series Ridley .
