Rider Strong (born 1979) is an American actor, director, and writer best known for his role as Shawn Hunter on the iconic TV series "Boy Meets World" (1993–2000). Growing up in California, Strong began acting at a young age, landing his breakout role as Shawn, the loyal best friend to Corey Matthews. The series became a cultural touchstone for a generation, and Strong’s portrayal of Shawn—complex, rebellious, yet deeply caring—earned him a dedicated fanbase. His role on the show made him a teen heartthrob and helped define the coming-of-age genre on television.
After "Boy Meets World," Strong continued his career in both acting and directing. He later appeared in the spin-off series "Girl Meets World" (2014–2017), where he reprised his role as Shawn, demonstrating his ongoing connection to his character and the series. Strong is also known for his work in independent films and theater. In addition to acting, he has directed several projects, including the short film "Seesaw Monster" (2014), and has pursued writing, co-authoring the "Literary Hub" piece "The Importance of Storytelling." Strong has said, "I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to connect us to the world and each other."
In recent years, Rider Strong has maintained a relatively low-profile but continued to expand his creative endeavors. Along with his work in entertainment, Strong is also known for his podcast, "Literary Disco", where he and fellow writers discuss books, literature, and creative processes. Despite his earlier fame, Strong has consistently remained grounded, focusing on his craft, the creative process, and the importance of meaningful storytelling. As he reflects on his journey, he has said, "The value of being authentic in your creative work is immeasurable."
