Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka (born 1955) is a South African politician, activist, author, and former United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women. Born in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, she studied economics and education and became deeply involved in activism during the apartheid era.
