Naya Rivera (1987–2020) was an American actress, singer, and author, best known for her role as Santana Lopez on the hit TV show "Glee" (2009–2015). Born in Valencia, California, Rivera began her career as a child actress, appearing in commercials before landing television roles. Her portrayal of Santana, a strong-willed, complex character, made her an iconic figure in the entertainment industry, breaking new ground for Latina representation in mainstream television. Rivera's sharp wit and powerful singing voice made her a standout on Glee, where she performed numerous memorable songs that showcased her vocal talent.

In addition to acting, Rivera pursued a successful music career and released her debut single, "Sorry," in 2013. Her musical talents were widely recognized, and she often spoke about how music and acting were integral parts of her creative expression. In 2016, she authored her memoir, "Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up", where she opened up about her personal journey, struggles, and triumphs. In the book, Rivera shared, "I am proud of who I am and what I’ve been able to accomplish, even when I didn’t think I could."

Outside of her professional achievements, Naya Rivera was known for her advocacy work, especially around mental health and self-empowerment. Her openness about her personal challenges, including body image and self-esteem, inspired many of her fans to embrace their own strength. Rivera’s life, although tragically cut short, continues to resonate with her fans through her work, her legacy as a trailblazer for Latina representation, and her emphasis on being unapologetically oneself. As she once said, "You have to be confident, but also real with yourself about who you are and what you need."
