King Von (1994–2020) was an American rapper and songwriter, known for his vivid storytelling and raw depictions of street life in his music. Born Dayvon Daquan Bennett on August 9, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois, King Von grew up in the O-Block neighborhood of Chicago, which heavily influenced his lyrical content. He was closely associated with the Only the Family (OTF) collective, founded by fellow Chicago rapper Lil Durk, and quickly rose to prominence in the drill music scene with his detailed narratives about his life and experiences.
King Von's breakthrough came with the release of his mixtape "Grandson, Vol. 1" in 2019, followed by his debut studio album, "Welcome to O'Block" in 2020. His music often told stories of violence, survival, and loyalty, reflecting the struggles and realities of inner-city life. Songs like "Crazy Story" and "Took Her to the O" showcased his skill in creating compelling, cinematic tales. Tragically, King Von was shot and killed in a confrontation outside a nightclub in Atlanta on November 6, 2020, at the age of 26.
