Franklin Knight Lane

Franklin Knight Lane (1864–1921) was an American politician, lawyer, and author, best remembered for his service as the U.S. Secretary of the Interior under President Woodrow Wilson from 1913 to 1920. Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Lane moved to California as a child and later built a career in law and public service. Before his Cabinet position, he served as a commissioner of the Interstate Commerce Commission, where he became known for his progressive ideas and advocacy for fairness in regulation.
